Casa de Campo Lifestyle
Located in the heart of Casa de Campo is the five-star hotel, sophisticated and service-oriented, offering every amenity you would expect from a hotel of this magnitude. A perfect vacation spot for golfers, couples, families, friends, group meetings, and destination weddings.
In 1975 Gulf+Western developed 7,000 acres (28 km2) of its Central Romana sugar mill's land into the Casa de Campo resort. Situated in La Romana on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic, Casa de Campo (Spanish for "Country House") is a Ponderosa-style, tropical seaside resort.
The first to enjoy the luxuries of this enclave were friends of the late Charles Bluhdorn, Gulf+Western’s founder and CEO, who built the retreat. One of Bluhdorn's Dominican friends, Oscar de la Renta, was one of the first to build a villa in the resort. After Bluhdorn's death, the Cuban-American Fanjul family (the world’s top sugar barons), bought Casa and most of the Gulf & Western properties. Without compromising the feeling of exclusivity and comfort, they have added a higher level of elegance in this fabulous tropical setting.
Casa de Campo’s golf has been internationally recognized for more than three decades. The world's golfers flocked to the course after it served as a backdrop for the 1971 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. It remains the only Caribbean course consistently in the world’s top 100 courses (usually top 50). The Links Course (opened in 1974) boasts beautiful rolling hills. Dye’s newest course, the much-acclaimed Dye Fore (opened in 2000), skirts cliffs 300 feet (91 m) above the Chavón River, with views of the village of Altos de Chavón, distant mountains and the new marina.
Casa de Campo has a modern, new 400-berth marina, complete with a shipyard with a 120-ton TraveLift designed by Italian architect, Gianfranco Fini to resemble Portofino. Surrounding this harbor are restaurants, shops, bars, and homes.
Casa de Campo also offers other sports and activities, each with expert staff and the best facilities found in the Caribbean. Play tennis in 13 Har-Tru courts, try your hand at sport shooting, spend a day at the complete equestrian center or at Minitas, the resort's private beach. Stay in shape at the fitness center or relax at the spa. Or, if shopping is your therapy, enjoy the many shops and boutiques. There are many supervised programs for kids and teens making it the perfect vacation.
Several daily flights from San Juan and Miami to the resort's private international airport makes Casa de Campo the most complete Golf Resort and Residential Community in the Caribbean.
Residential communities are strategically located to enhance the natural terrain. The area is subdivided into sea front Luxury Villa communities bordering the Teeth of the Dog and The Links Golf Courses, the private Golf Country Club, and the Tennis Club, The Marina with private docks, or the Los Altos condominiums, built on the Dye Fore course with views of he Altos the Chavón artist community or Chavón River for a backdrop.
